There are many ways to volunteer for your GOP this election year. We will have phone banks, door-to-door voter contacts, parades and more that will need your time to make successful.
Right now, we have opportunities that are not as well-known or high profile, but are still vital to our election efforts and campaigns.
1. The Boone County Republican Central Committee is in need of a Secretary to take notes at our monthly Central Committee meetings, and then distributing the notes to the Committee before the next meeting. You DO NOT need to be a member of the committee to be the Secretary, so this is a great chance to get involved while not taking up a large amount of your time. At our upcoming meetings, we plan to have candidates, elected officials and more, so you will have a front-row seat to our activities and speakers. Please email if interested or want more information.
2. For Election Days, GOP poll workers are needed in Boone County at the precincts. This is a paid hourly position through the County Clerk’s office, plus you get paid for training as well. It is a long day, since the polls are open 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. You must be a registered voter to be a poll worker. You can apply here.
3. On Election Day night, a Republican needs to help out with the election returns when they come into the county government building from the various precincts. This is also paid through the County Clerk’s office. I call it the “vote runner” position, even though there is no running involved. This generally lasts from 7-10 p.m., and is helpful so that ballots and votes that are brought into the government building are properly accounted for and recorded. Contact if you would like to do this on Election Day nights.
I know many times that your volunteer efforts are not always publicly recognized, but I know that what you do does make a difference, and is highly valued and appreciated by many more people than you realize.
