The Boone County Republican Central Committee emphatically supports our 4th District U.S. Representative Vicky Hartzler and U.S. Senator Roy Blunt in their efforts to repeal the (Un)Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare, to reduce federal regulations that hurt business start-ups and growth, and to strengthen our military readiness against international terrorism and homegrown threats. The Committee also thanks Blunt and Hartzler for their support of the Trump Administration in cutting government overhead and reviewing administrative functions, like the EPA and the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rules. We also thank Senator Blunt for his support of President Trump’s nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court of the United States.
We have definitely seen the negative effects of Obamacare, even though then-Speaker Pelosi did not know what was going to happen because she did not read what was in the bill before it passed – higher premiums (not lowered by $2500 per President Obama’s statement), lack of health insurance options in Boone and many other counties across Missouri (even if President Obama promised that if you like your plan and doctor, you can keep your plan and doctor), and a burdensome set of regulations beset on businesses and institutions of all sizes that also have hurt many individuals in the process.
The Committee also supports our state-level elected officials – Senator Caleb Rowden, Rep. Chuck Basye and Rep. Cheri Toalson Reisch – in their efforts and successes to create a better business climate in Missouri with passage of right-to-work legislation, new job opportunities in Boone County, and supporting our 2nd Amendment rights. We encourage them to remain strong in their beliefs, even in the face of hostile intimidation tactics by those who disagree with them.
We believe that our state and federal elected officials are fulfilling the will of the people based on the results of the elections just four months ago. Rep. Hartzler is pursuing the agenda she campaigned on because she won every county in the 4th Congressional District, including Boone, with 68% of the total district vote. The 4th District spoke in November, and it spoke loudly in favor of Rep. Hartzler and her campaign.
We acknowledge that there are many views on every issue that come before the electorate, and recognize everyone is free to state their concerns. And we are willing to work with those that genuinely want to seek solutions to the problems that face our county, state and country. But when groups seek to shame and deride only Republican officials in a public setting, like at the Feb. 2 Town Hall Forum in Columbia, solutions will not be found and further division will occur. This is especially true when those who seek town halls with Republican officials do not demand the same public forum of Democratic officials, like Sen. Claire McCaskill, who ALSO did not host a single public forum (but with absolutely no stories or headlines regarding that fact).
The Boone County Republican Central Committee, and our grassroots volunteers, donors and other allied groups, will continue to support our Republican officials as they work to implement the agenda that they were voted into office to implement. And we will continue to espouse ideas that we believe will bring growth, opportunity and prosperity for all.
Chair, Boone County Republican Central Committee
